An annulment is a process whereby the marriage is voided (deemed legally as if it never occurred). Therefore, if the Court issues an annulment, there is no need to obtain a Divorce Decree because the Court has voided the marriage. Annulments are granted extremely rarely and under very limited circumstances. The party petitioning for an annulment must meet very specific requirements (for example fraud, inability to engage in sexual intercourse, etc.).
